7 Ways To Generate Free Website Traffic
Generating free traffic is not always the impossible feat that it is made out to be. In fact, there are many different ways in which you can generate free traffic. Some are better than others; and some are especially effective in some niches, but not in others. Below, I’ve listed seven such methods:
1. Write articles and submit them to directories. Include a link in your resource box that points to your site. This will generate traffic and click throughs long after you publish it.
2. Add “keyword” pages to your site. You can do this by writing articles that are focused around a certain keyword and then simply uploading them to your site. When your site is indexed by the search engines, traffic will pick up for those keywords.
3. Begin finding link partners and exchanging links. This will not only get you direct click through traffic from other sites, but it will also get you search engine traffic once those sites are indexed and your site is given credit for the inbound links.
4. Create a high-quality flash video or real life video; add it to a page on your site. Post that video on You Tube, http://Break.com, and on all social bookmarking sites, such as http://del.icio.us>, and http://www.technorati.com. If your video is exceptionally funny or interesting, people will begin to circulate your video around the Internet. Remember to include the URL of your site in the video, so viewers can figure out how to find your products.
5. Create a free report on a specific subject related to your business. In that report, include a link to your site (preferably a newsletter opt-in form) every few pages. Take that report and give it away for free to every site owner in your niche. If you have a link to one of your products in that report, allow the site owner to rebrand it. That will make him much more likely to redistribute it.
6. Post regularly on forums related to your site. This is perhaps the easiest and quickest way to generate traffic. All it entails is creating an account on several good forums, making useful and interesting posts, and then including a signature file that allows readers to click through to your site.
7. Post free ads in places that actually get traffic. Using “free ad forums” may be a waste of time in many instances; however, bulletin boards that get traffic, but allow free advertisement, may be a good place to look.
If your current advertising budget is higher than you’d like, you should consider using free advertising. The seven tips I outlined above are just a few of the avenues you can take.

The site I’m building for an HVAC company I work for only gets about 30 clicks per month. I am indexed in major search engines but I appear way too deep in the results to find. I use meta keywords on every page.

First, let’s head on over to My Yahoo. If you don’t already have a profile, it’s time to create one. For the purposes of this article, we’re going to say that you have one.
Click on “Personalize this Page” and then “Add RSS Feed.” It’s time to add your blog feed.
Now, it’s time to head over to the Button creator. Create a little button for your sidebar on your blog. People who use the RSS reader from Yahoo will like it.
You’re not done yet! It’s time to head over to Yahoo Groups and add some relevant groups to your niche blog. Send off some messages and remember your signature – put your signature in every single post to the groups you subscribe to.

Newspapers, newspaper classifieds, radio, bus stop bench billboards etc. Have all your trucks emblazoned with your company’s URL on the side and on the back of all the vehicles. Create a video and upload it to YouTube with your URL flashed on the screen. All of these are free.

While all of these answers will get you traffic, the only long term "free" way to maintain traffic is through SEO or online or offline viral marketing.
I put the "free" in parentheses because this is going to take time, particularly for a hyper-competitive industry. Having taken a look at the site, I’ll tell you first off that it could stand a serious makeover (just being honest). You’ll have a hard time with the aesthetics, at least how they look in Firefox (which I’m using).
Secondly, content. You need more and it needs to be good, and fairly dense with the keywords you’re after. Make some unique content that potential customers would be interested in or will find useful, and then other people will be more likely to link to you (this is known as link-baiting). This also allows you to use social media like reddit/digg/stumbleupon/etc. to drive more traffic.

After an initial review of your SEO metatags, it appears that you need some revisions in order to elevate your web presence on major seach engines, such as Google. com and Yahoo.com.
Begining with:
1. The <title> metatag contains entries which assumes that your domain name/business name is a well-known brand and if that is not the case, why not leave the domain name out of the <title>. And having a business locator of "Philadelphia region," is not specific enough. Why is the actual city of "Trevose" not referenced?
Here’s an improved <title> metatag: <title>Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing, Residential, Commercial, Contractor, Maintenance, Repair | Trevose, Pennsylvania</title>
2. The keywords metatag: Insert the keyword "Trevose."
Once you incorporate these suggestions into your opening webpage, you will notice a major increase in Net traffic since again, most customers are very likely to search for your business under a specific business locator, i.e., "Trevose, Pennsylvania" and not waste time looking for a "Pennsylvania region" business.

4. Review websites in your niche on Alexa to try to take some of their traffic by including a reference back to your site.
5. Review some related products on epinion.
6. If you purchase a product that you actually like, then feel free to give an individual respect when respect is due and leave a testimonial. You should be able to get some traffic from that website if your testimonial is left with a url.
7. Whenever you send an email to someone, include your website url as a signature.
8. Keep updating content on your websites/blogs… try at least once per week, if not twice.
9. Tag blog posts at social bookmarking sites. Sign up to Onlywire.
10. Add pictures to your blog with appropriate keywords.
