If you meet someone and exchange numbers, who contacts who first? The guy or gal? Is it ok to text first?

you need to call before you text, and it doesn’t matter who calls first. don’t wait for the other person…just do it. but you can only text after the first call was made.

the guy definetly. You can text but it is better when you call. It shows your more straightfoward and that you arent shy about talking to her.

usually it doesn’t matter. Make it casual though and texting is totally fine as well. It tests the waters. Once you feel like the texting is ok, then move it up to calling!

There isn’t a certain set of "rules" on this. It seems like the person that originally asked for the other persons number contacts first. It is definitely ok to text first. In fact, most people do because it’s takes the pressure off of actually talking to someone.

usually i would say the guy, just call the person and ask him/her to a coffee or whatever.. if its too nerve racking.. then just keep acquainting each other via phone until you’re down with taking him/her out…. calls are better than texts but hey thats just me… whatever floats your boat

The one who is closest to the telephone contacts the person first. Texting is all right–nothing wrong with it in this day and age.
